Very good accommodation especially for students looking for a place close to the university and it's very cheap. Highly recommend this site
Never would I ever have anticipated the level of pure ineptitude displayed by this 'reputable' agency, I have only been a tenant in one of Nicholas Humphreys properties for a period of 9 days thus far, and already feel strongly enough to rate them a mere 1 star. Upon viewing the property initially, our estate agent was late despite giving us a specific time to meet. This issue was resolved after calling the office to find out why the estate agent was so very late and as such we put this down to a simple scheduling error and thought nothing more of it as we viewed the property which was very much to our liking, and sounded reasonable in many aspects. After discussion regarding the particulars of the agreement with the estate agent, we were very impressed with what was said and chose to agree to renting the property... we would soon learn that this impressive spiel was unfortunately all lip service. A date and time was agreed to sign the required documentation, so we arrived in good time to the building the office was located in (which is inconspicuous at best) and navigated our way to the dingy room used as an office. Most unfortunately, there was nobody in the office, so after numerous phone calls and over a period of about 50 minutes, we managed to make contact with the estate agent whom it transpired was out running personal errands in the city on our time and would be a further 20 minutes late to our meeting; quite the professionalism and punctuality you'd expect as a paying customer I'm sure you'd agree? We signed all the relevant paperwork (more fool us), and paid our deposit. A hitch with our previous contract resulted in us asking Nicholas Humphreys if it would be possible to collect the keys to the property one day earlier, it was; however at the expense of 50. We paid this along with our first quarterly rent payment. The day came prior to moving into the property, and my housemate received a call informing him we had not signed any paperwork at all, nor had we paid any rent despite us having bank statements and a hard copy of the signed contract to evidence that we had. Once this matter had been put to bed we assumed that nothing further that could occur could possibly exceed the incompetence already displayed. How very wrong we were. Moving date comes around and two of the house go along to the office to collect our keys, where the member of staff in the office seemingly could not determine which set of keys matched the property. When presented with the keys that my housemates were told 'might be our keys', it was discovered there were only 2 between 5 tenants and upon questioning they were told that was all there was to give us. Of course we took the keys to be cut so we would all have access to the property however a couple of days later, another housemate received a call enquiring when we would be picking up the rest of the keys, the suggestion of us perhaps getting a refund for the keys we had to get cut directly due to their deficits in completing the most simple of tasks was laughed off. Overall I am immensely appalled and distressed by the lack of integrity, proficiency and professionalism demonstrated by Nicholas Humphreys and shall be sending a formal complaint to the company as I feel that the fact we are students has led the agents we have dealt with to believe they can pull the wool over our eyes so to speak and conduct themselves with an unacceptable lack of customer service. While I do hope the company takes note of these grievances and endeavours to ameliorate their future standards, I can not recommend them in the least.
I have had a terrible experience renting with Nicholas Humphreys in Newcastle. When we first made an appointment to view our new house, the estate agent was half an hour late to the property. Nonetheless the property fit our criteria so we agreed to meet up to sign the tenancy agreeement. However the estate agent appeared an hour late to this meeting and no one was in the office at Newcastle leaving us waiting outside in the rain outside their insalubrious office block in Chinatown. When the estate agent finally arrived, he told us that 'he had better things to do' when he had evidently been conducting bluntly personal errands during working hours which made us feel the antithesis of valued customers. Regretablly, we chose to sign the tenancy agreement and paid all the money that we had to at that point, including the deposit and the first quarter of the rent. However, we received an unsettling phone call a day before we were due to move in informing us that we had not paid any money or signed any documentation - but we had in fact done all of this. After a number of tedious and long, drawn-out phone calls we managed to resolve this issue. Surely it could not get any worse than this, could it?Upon arrival to obtain the keys to our new house, we were greeted by another member of the Nicholas Humphreys team who, fumbling about with a multiplicity of keys, informed us that 'these might be your keys' and an attitude embodied by his statement 'we'll just see and find out'. What kind of staff mentality is this? I'm sure Nicholas Humphreys would not stand for it if I estimated a figure to pay for my rent and told them 'this might be the amount of money required'. This kind of treatment is ridiculous and the sheer level of incompetence demonstrated by your staff is, frankly, appalling. Overall, my experience of renting a house with Nicholas Humphreys has been one to forget. I hope, for the sake of your future customers, you address these grave issues of integrity, tenacity and accountability which are visible in prodigious amounts. (In this review I only speak of the Newcastle office exclusively and, although I had a desire to, I have avoided from naming the members of staff who have provoked these grievances)
I think a rating of one star is too generous personally. I would recommend any other estate agent in Newcastle before Nicholas Humphreys. The sheer incompetence of the company is astonishing. Fees are applied to literally everything, including a guarantor fee of 50. We even had to pay a fee of 10 for moving in to our property a day early! On top of this, we were presented with only one key for our property at their office (which is incredibly difficult to find, and is located in what appears to be a flat in the depths of Chinatown). However, a few days later I received a phone call asking when all of us were moving in, as they allegedly had the other four keys ready for us, after we had already had some cut, at a cost of 10 each. The mere suggestion of a refund at the expense of Nicholas Humphreys was more or less laughed off. So through absolutely no fault of our own, but rather their inability to fulfil basic duties expected by even the smallest and newest of estate agents, we were denied a refund.I thought the previous estate agents I have rented through were as bad as they come, but Nicholas Humphreys have well and truly proved me wrong. Please, please, PLEASE do not rent or buy anything through this useless company at any cost.
Recently moved out. 2 years of issues, property in disrepair. Delays in responce. No gas safety, Electric test failed. deposit was secured late with gov scheme. Failing to return calls, messages and to return our deposit. been waiting over 3 weeks to collect mail. Still nothing. Full of false promises, I have now involved a solicitor and will go to court to sort out the issues.
